Matthew McNutt is the associate pastor for student ministries at Brandywine Valley Baptist Church in Wilmington, Delaware. He was also a season three ...
Narrator: The following is a tragic, but true, story. (pause) Because, let's face it, it's just too unbelievably farfetched to be fiction. Anyway, our very own Dean Gary Stratton had the following conversations when he was out at Biola. California, baby. (laughs to self) Of course, these misconceptions could never happen here in New England, right?
Amanda: Um, excuse me, Gary?
Gary: Yes? Hello! Come on in. What's up?
Amanda: Well, um, actually, there's something I was wondering if I could talk to you about.
Gary: Sure thing, Amanda, what is it?
Amanda: You see, I'm kinda worried about my roommate, Jess. It's just that, I don't think she's saved, you know? And, and I hate the thought that she's going to hell.
Gary: Wow, that is big. Have you tried talking to her?
Amanda: Yeah, but she always changes the subject. I guess she goes to church, but there is no energy in her spiritual life, ya'know? I never see Jess pray, when we sing praise songs in chapel she just stands there - her idea of "wild and crazy worship" is Catacombs!!
Narrator: Excuse me - a moment, please; Biola's equivalent to Catacombs has been changed to Catacombs in this drama so as to minimize any potential confusion. Thank you.
Gary: Well, Amanda, if she isn't saved, you can't make her come to the Lord. It's God who does that. All you can do is pray for her, and when the opportunities arise, talk about the Lord and what He's done for you.
Amanda: I guess you're right; it's just hard y'know? I hate seeing her miss out on God's blessings.
Gary: I know, I'll be praying for you both in this.
Amanda: Thanks ... cya later!
Gary: Goodbye, Amanda.
Narrator: Time passes ...
